Twitter

Wonderbag is a unique product and needed a unique site. We created a vivid interactive site using Drupal 7, crammed with interesting recipes and information.
Is it a beanbag? Is it a cat basket? No, it's a Wonderbag.

Wonderbag is a unique product that needed a unique site. Drupal 7 put us in a great position to come up with something special, featuring huge amounts of evocative imagery, especially where food is concerned, along with a whole bunch of social content and interactivity.

The site integrates with Twitter and Facebook, and allows users to participate in discussions on the site itself. It contains a recipe index where users can submit their own recipes for moderation, and an online shop selling the Wonderbags themselves.

More users sharing more info—and more tweets. This article from eMarketer shows some useful insights to Twitter

Twitter’s user base has experienced infamous growth over the past couple years, with the company announcing in December that 100 million new accounts had been opened in 2010 and eMarketer estimating that the US Twitter population rose from 18 million in 2009 to 26 million last year. The social media service may also be beginning to mature as a community.

It seems that small business' are not convinced about social media and its benefits.

A recent article from eMarketer highlights the fact that small businesses don’t believe that social media is an effective tool for marketing and promoting their businesses.  At Tigerfish we believe that social media in isolation may not give the results required – but combine social media with email marketing, newsletters and blogs and that maybe a different story.

The article below shows how search engine marketing, SEO and pay-per-click can be a massive boost to charities. It highlights the importance that you need to be fast off the mark and focused to achieve an increase in donations.

I suppose it stands to reason the faster a charity can put a facility in place to accept donations the easier it is to give to that cause.

We particularly agree with the statement at the end of the article that “digital” or online doesn’t sit in a vacuum but it is the fastest and easiest media to put in place to gain the most empathy from the public.

The BoF session at DrupalCon in Copenhagen gave everyone a chance to discuss the future of the project. But where next?

Having just left DrupalCon's BoF session on the proposed DrupalCRM project, I thought I would take the opportunity to reflect on the progress we made and where the project will be going from here.

A great turnout saw around 20 people show up to discuss the current state of the project and its goals. To skip directly to the conclusions, the DrupalCRM project is aiming to produce a native Drupal CRM in Drupal 7 (which can then be backported to Drupal 6) which is flexible, robust and does not suck to use.

But are Twitter just stepping on peoples toes – this functionality already exists and is in use. So is Twitter’s strategy one of vertical integration rather than maintaining the core offering? What do you think?

1. It’s highly cost effective
In these tough economic times, there’s no other form of marketing that gives you more bang for your buck. Especially when you compare the costs of email to a direct mail campaign, email is incredibly cost effective. If you properly integrate your email marketing with the rest of your marketing then you’ll see an uplift in response rates from across your media spend. Not only will you be saving money with email you’ll be making extra revenue from your newly integrated campaigns.
